united states, president obama, he's about to arrive here in boston, as we get ready for a memorial service, honoring the victims. those who died, as well as those who suffered in this horrible boston marathon bombing. that will begin shortly. we're following also the investigation behind this terror. >> how are you, wolf? good to be with you today. we'll start with what's going on in west, texas. west is the name of the town, about 20 miles from waco. a very desperate situation since about 7:30 local p.m. a fire broke out at a fertilizer factory there. about 15 minutes later, a massive explosion. so powerful, it registered as an earthquake. 2.1 magnitude earthquake. explosion of noxious compound used in making federal lieser this is a small town, only about 3,000 people. 50 to 60 homes have been destroyed. half the town, 1,300 people, forced to be evacuated. injuries were quick, some severe, over 160 people treated so far. the most difficult part of the situation, it's so dire, it's the unknown. the chemical compound, anhydrous ammonia, used in making fertilizer. can be lethal. the

. president obama heading to boston this morning unrelated to the push to get the suspects and maybe an arrest. he'll attend a memorial service around 11 a.m. eastern. if you talk about security, it's going to be heightened. here's possibly what they're looking at. this is the cover of the new york post today, and here are the two men right there, one with a backpack, one without. and they're spotted also in a crowd looking away from where the runners are. i cannot open the page because we can't show pictures on the inside. >>gretchen: we want to mention we're keeping up the photos and the video, i should say, from the texas situation while we're giving you these other major breaking stories. i find it interesting that the new york post decides to print these photos of these two men, because other news outlets, including fox news as of this morning, have decided not to show their faces because, frankly, federal officials asked them not to. so it's very interesting that the newspaper -- now it will be out everywhere. it was already on the was not confirmed that these are the two faces they were
house official says the obama administration has been briefed on the situation. they continue monitoring local and state response through the federal emergency management agency. in addition to tending to those who have been injured, officials are concerned about the possibility of a secondary explosion. a texas state official gave a briefing early this morning and said that, quote, there are still active ingredient there's. and that the fire continued to burn. with active ingredients, we can only assume he means dangerous chemicals that could lead to a secondary explosion. to the force of that blast. it was felt, reportedly, as far as 70 miles away. our own charles hadlock, was 60 miles away at the time. and he felt that explosion. and one official who got an opportunity to survey some of the damage said it was massive. the damage was massive. it looked just like iraq. and looked just like the oklahoma city bombing. that's how severe that damage was. again, residents have been told to evacuate from nearby areas. and those who are in the area who have not evacuated are being told to stay
